We never got the recipes - our teacher seemed to be pretty bored and just wanted to get the job done. Some of us were just standing around waiting for our teacher to tell us what to do but she would just do it by herself so that we'd get through it quickly. Furthermore the kitchen wasn't as clean as you would expect a kitchen to be (after all we prepare our food there).I wouldn't recommend this cooking school to anyone - in fact it's a shame because with a little more effort (cleaning and teaching people to cook Paella) it would actually be pretty cool.
My mum and I joined the Thai cooking workshop. All 7 of us chose a dish from the recipe list and learned how to make it. I made fresh red curry paste and fish cakes. The venue in Santa Catalina (Palma) is very nice and professional. Katy was very happy sharing her brilliant cooking skills and nutritional knowledgeable with us. We were given lots of handy tips and it was a joy to be there. At the end we ate all the delicious food that we had cooked. A great night!
The Spanish cooking class at the Galley Club was unfortunately a huge disappointment. Actually I have never experienced anything like it. It started off with Katy telling us that we were 10 minutes too late and that we should go straight to the kitchen. She did not even introduce herself to us. Next (after walking 20 minutes in the Mallorcan heat) my friend asked politely for a glass of water which she was given the rest of the group was to serve themselves with glasses and water. The condition of the kitchen was extremely bad lots of dirt and stuff lying around from the previous groups. Nothing had been cleaned prior to our arrival. The door handle of the bathroom was broken and fell off every time one of us used the bathroom. Same condition here dirty and an old used tool to dry our hands. Back to the cooking class (if thats what you can call it): We all ended up chopping some vegetable for the paella and cleaning the musles and thats really it. Katy cooked on her own and did not explain anything unless we actually asked her to. So basically she was cooking and we were solely observers not sure if thats how a cooking class should be. If you are taking international groups in for your cooking class then you should possess good English skills to at least explain what you are doing. She quickely switchted to Spanish though one of our friends did not speak any Spanish at all, so she was left guessing as to the few things she actually explained. Overall we had the impression that she wanted to complete the class as fast as possible so she could go home. She did not smile throughout the evening and was completely annoyed without any reason. While we were eating she cleaned the floor and switched off the lights so as to tell us to hurry up and go home. Sorry to say but this was a complete waste of money I would not recommend this class to anyone. This is not a cooking class but an expense to watch somebody cook for you although she really is not in the mood for it.
Totalmente incoherente la seorita Caty.Adems de mal hablada, no tiene ganas de trabajar ni siquiera prestar un buen servicio.Me he tomado la molestia de llamarla para solicitarle un taller y pedir informacin y se ha molestado ya que yo busco algo mejor cualificado que no un curso de 3hs el cual no te da tiempo para aprender de mucho.Con esa actitud no llegar muy lejos su negocio. Ni siquiera est dispuesta a brindar informacin.No lo recomiendo ni a mi peor enemigo.Es un robo de dinero y no vas a aprender nada.
